Description
Complete setup ready to print including inks and paper. Up for grabs is a Colorspan Hi-Res 8 Displaymaker DM4100 42 inch wide format printer with embedded PostScript® RIP (series 200 with software CDs), dryer, take up reel, a 'ton' of ink, a roll of Colorspan Satin Photobase paper and 8 PERMANENT PROFILERS for hi-res mode. Included are several new boxes of Colorspan DMXK Enduro Chrome Dye inks and several extra good used print heads. Plus I recently acquired another 7 boxes of Colorspan Enduro Chrome inks (with printheads) and an extra new printhead. Also included is a 36"x100' roll of Colorspan Satin Photobase PXS paper. The included Colorspan inks alone cost over $3000.00 and the permanent profilers costs $2800.00 (if you can find them). Also included are 8 partial boxes of ink (most boxes are about 1/2 full where a full box is 1/2 liter) with 8 printheads. Colorspan printers are commercial grade printers which do not count the amount of paper or ink used, but count the amount of uptime. They are designed to be used continuously without even turning off to change inks, heads or paper. This one has a very low uptime of maybe 250 days which is practically not even used.   This printer comes with 8 PERMANENT PROFILERS for Colorspan Enduro Chrome ink for Hi-Res Mode. As you know, the biggest (and only) complaint about Colorspan is the high costs per square foot of printing. The colors, speed and prints are fantastic, it just cost over $2.35 per square foot in ink alone plus paper in Hi-Res mode. That is because Colorspan ink packs sell for $270.00 for a 1/2 liter of ink with a profiler that will run out before the ink does. It does come with a new print head, but I have only had one print head go bad and that was because I let it run out of ink while printing. If the profiler never tells the printer it is out of ink, then you can run a print head dry and destroy it. I just didn't bother to look at the ink bag to see that it was low to begin with, duhhh. Without permanent profilers, you have to use the high price ink packs from Colorspan. I can buy a liter of ink at http://www.uink.com/catalog/colorspan/displaymaker_series.htm) with the same specs for $79.99 for about $100.00 less than one 500ml box or Colorspan ink.  These profilers are very hard to get and sell for about $350.00 US for each profiler (200 British pounds).   Included is a callibrator made specifically for this printer.  With this callibrator, you could use pigment UV inks on vinyl and still be able to use the permanent profilers.  I also have original software CDs including the RIP software. Several of the CDs I have never even looked at. I also have all manuals on pdf.   This printer uses 8 different colors to produce an extremely wide color gamet. Colors are black, yellow, cyan, medium cyan, light cyan, magenta, medium magenta and light magenta. It also has two other modes that I have never used; a high speed mode using two each of black, yellow, cyan and magenta or a software switchable mode using four dye inks and four pigment inks. The printer has automatic calibration and what seems like endless choices for tweeking. This printer is compatable with many types of papers. I consistantly use a photo quality paper made by Dr Graphics Imaging that is scratch and tear resistant and only costs 25 cents per square foot ($75.00 for a 100 foot roll 36 inches wide).   There is absolutey nothing wrong with this printer. Everthing is fully functional with no issues at all. It is a production line printer that is made like a tank. Its simplified design makes it extremely easy to do any kind of maintenance. There are no expensive waste tanks to replace. It has little rubber cups that each print head sits on the catch the periodic 'spit' that the printer does to keep the heads clear. These cups are on a tray that lifts out so you can wash the waste ink off in the bathroom sink. Beautiful design. The only thing I have ever had to do is lube a bearing on the carraige roller.   I am selling my Colorspan printer due to a lack of need for a commercial grade printer. Colorspan printers are designed for continious use and I don't print near enough to justify it so I bought another wide format printer designed for occasional use. This is a large printer over four feet tall, seven feet long and 18 inches wide without the ink trays attached (29 inches with). It is on rollers for easy moving and the stand is easily removed. If I remember right, it is a couple hundred lbs. I do not have any packing crates so if it is to be shipped, the buyer will be responsible for having a company pack and ship it. I removed the ink system and packed it with the boxes of ink and print heads to make it ready to move.   Don't miss out on this super deal for a Hi-Res8 4200 Colorspan wide format printer with RIP, PERMANENT PROFILERS, extra printheads, extra inks and more, everything needed to use right away. The PERMANENT PROFILERS are extremely hard to get and I will get at many many emails from owners of Colorspan printers wanting just the profilers or at least where to get them, but they are not for sale separately. Local pickup is preferred (will fit in pickup truck) or you can arrange and prepay for packing and shipping. This printer is located in College Station Texas which is about 100 miles North of Houston, 100 miles East of Austin and 200 miles South of Dallas Texas. Please email me if you have any questions.    Specs from Colorspan: Printer Specifications The DisplayMaker HiRes 8-Color Series from ColorSpan sets new standards of excellence in wide format printing with breakthrough technology such as 8-printhead design, the automation eye, and Gamut+ spot color.   DisplayMaker 200 Series—Embedded PostScript® RIP   Includes: 4200, 6200, 7200.
